| Competition JudgingJudging of competitions is a subject of interest to even the newest member of the club. The Chicago Area Camera Clubs use a scoring system ranging from 4 to 9. It is sometimes difficult to understand why one image receives a score of 20 (total for three judges) while a very similar image may receive a 24.The following is taken from "Concepts for Better Judging" by John Mariana.
While these are guidelines proposed by Mr. Mariana, judges may use other, less objective criteria. Certainly personal taste can influence a judge, as can the "WOW" factor. The above can serve as some guidance, especially to newer members on what to strive for in reaching the higher levels of scoring. - WHR |
