 President's Message - November 2009

Countryside has been very nice to us for many years. However, they now have a new policy for use of the meeting room. I received a letter outlining their preferred list for the use of the meeting room. Since we have only a few members who live in Countryside, we are at the bottom of their list. We could be replaced for use of the meeting room for a single meeting or more, however we have been approved through December. Other camera clubs have lost their meeting place with little or no prior notice. Now is the time to put on our thinking caps for use of alternate sites.

One complaint of Countryside is stains on the carpet and a general mess left by users of the room. The room is used by many groups. It has been decided that in the future we will not have supplies for beverages. Members may bring their own beverages in a capped container, but cookies or other finger food may be brought by members via sign-up sheets, but please, no cakes or food that is eaten with forks.

I thought it not wise to ask for permission to have our usual Christmas Party. We will have a toned down celebration: two members can sign up to bring Christmas cookies and three members can sign up to bring finger-sized appetizer. Bring your own beverage in a capped container. A short program will be provided by Jim Gregory.

NEWS OF OUR MEMBERS

Tom Graff has had colon surgery and is recovering at Lexington Health Care Center, 4735 S. Gilbert Ave. LaGrange.

Sherrill Lynch passed away on Monday, November 16. He died after being cared for in hospice care. Our thoughts and prayers are with Helen and her family. So many of us have fond memories of Sherrill. He was the heart of Salt Creek Camera Club for so many years. We shall miss him.
